Athan slips while climbing and uncovers an egg. The problem is this egg doesn’t really look like an egg and it’s not from his realm. If only he had a copy of Puck’s Extinct Creatures of the Day and Night, then he could have easily learned more about the egg. But of course, just like every other human, Athan has never heard of that book.

He returns back to his home to see it set aflame. Monsters destroy everything, while some strange ruby elf fights them. She’s not killing them out of the goodness of her elven heart. She wants to claim the bounty, Athan’s bounty.

Like it or not, the ruby elf drags Athan into another world. He needs to find his way out. Thankfully, his new mythical creature should help out … a lot.
